By way of Colorado, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Charlotte, I have found my home in New York City.
I am a creative extrovert who loves nature & city life in equal measure, and I have found that my chosen borough of Brooklyn satisfies the draw to both!
There is a church in my neighborhood that is over 130 years old. This is not particularly old for a church in New York, but I notice this one as I walk by it every day. Its peak, like several other churches on the same street, has been clipped off over the years. A clobbering from a crashing plane and a tornado are two of the more dramatic forces it has endured. But endured it has. And on the tip top of one of the blunted spires, grows a tree.
It gives me a great sense of comfort that the city and nature coexist in this way. This got me thinking of all the ephemeral moments that, if we could just press "pause", we could really cherish.
My hope is that each of my sculptures captures that moment in time.
